O conjunto que forma o Quartel da Guarda Nacional Republicana de Santa Maria de Lamas é formado por quatro unidades funcionais distribuídas em três edifícios. Discretamente, os volumes de comando/habitação, camarata/refeitório e cavalariças organizam as atividades e usos exteriores ao longo dos seus espaços intersticiais, controlando eficazmente as contingências criadas pelo terreno e a envolvente difusamente urbanizada.
The complex that forms the “Guarda Nacional Republicana” (Republican National Guard) Headquarters in Santa Maria de Lamas is formed by four functional units, distributed in three buildings. Discreetly, the volumes of command/housing, barracks/canteen and stables organize the activities and exterior usages along their interstitial spaces, thus effectively controlingl the contingencies created by the plot and the diffusely urbanized surroundings.
